Yeah Yeah Yeah, another blog post in who knows how long. Anyway, not much has been going on, so here's a recent update.
Patricia and I have recently passed the 2-year mark. I don't really know how we managed to put up with each other this long, but we have so far. LOL =)
I've taken some classes towards a Texas Real Estate license. I'm taking a prep class for the state exam in March, and then after that, THE state exam.
My Corpus Christi Rayz are fighting for a playoff spot. Several of the players are on my friends list, and may be reading this. On paper, the number's don't look so good right now (5 points out of the 5th and final playoff spot in the Central Hockey League's Southern Conference, with 13 games left to play). But, then again, hockey isn't exactly played on paper, now is it? There's still time to put together a run to capture that 5th and final spot. The guys on the team know that, and the fans and season ticket holders know that, so there's really no point in going into that. They know what's on the line, and the odds they have to overcome. Personally, I think Chris Shaffer's 2-game suspension for his run in with Laredo's James (S)Hiebert last Friday was a BS call. And, if what I am reading online is true, Rayz fans can expect another BS call with Kevin Watters getting tagged for a 3-game suspension for a hit on Austin's Kurtis Kisio. THAT, and injuries, and the impression that the Central Hockey League is out to screw the Rayz makes for some drama. The guys know that their fans are behind them, and will be cheering them on the rest of the way, especially the group from Section 106. LET'S GO RAYZ!!!!
And, last but not least, there's the matter of my web site. For a while now, I've said that I want to put up a personal web site. I have web space available through my .mac account, as well as the web hosting package I have with my company. I'm not sure what route I want to take with that yet. I know that I will be using my company's web hosting package for file-storage (the songs for the music player on MySpace and FaceBook are uploaded there), as well as a test-ground for my improving my HTML skills. So, for now, don't expect anything major in the way of a web site or blog just yet. Of course, IF and when I do get around to doing something, I'll post it here.
That's it for now. Off to bed and then work in the morning.

For those of you wondering, or don’t know, or both, I am working on my web site. It is a work in progress, so there isn’t much in terms of content up at the moment. Current Mood:
Current Music: "She's A Beauty" by The Tubes
If you want to check it out, the URL is http://www.maxintosh.net. On there, you will find some information, as well as links to here, my MySpace Page, and my LiveJournal page. For now, I’m trying to keep all three updated and current, so you may see the same entry posted in three different places. I do that because I have some friends that have a LiveJournal page, but they don’t have a MySpace, and vice versa. Then again, I have some that may have neither, so they come here.
Any questions, comments, you know how to reach me. Let me know what you think.

So, today, I went and fulfilled my civic obligation to Nueces County and reported for Jury Duty. Considering this was the second time I've been called where I was able to go (before I was in school and was exempt), this time went better than the last. I mean, this time, I was actually selected for jury selection, as opposed to being named to a "reserve" jury panel that was on standby. Oh yeah, and I had the day off from work too because of it. Looks like I now have to go back to work tomorrow. Current Mood:

Oh well, a three-day weekend from work is always nice. I got to hang out with my girlfriend and our hockey buddies, Ed, Cindy and Jon. Even though we opted to hang out and have a hockey/movie night as opposed to making the road trip to Hidalgo TX to see our Corpus Christi Rayz and the Rio Grande Valley KillerBees game and subsequent line brawl, it was another laugh riot. For those of you that don't know, our hockey/movie nights are what we call our get-togethers where we watch the Rayz game online via CHL.TV and listen to the game on the radio. Now, I know what you're thinking...."If you have the game on CHL.TV, with audio, why listen to it on the radio?" The answer is simple, really. We'd rather listen to our own play-by-play guy than some other guy who will probably rip on us because he's a mark for the other team.
Then again, we did miss out on yet ANOTHER line brawl. And, for those of you that don't know, this was the second line brawl in the span of a week for the Rayz, the first being January 28 against the Laredo Bucks on our home ice! And, I am having some problems getting that video posted, so I hope to have that up soon. And, now that I have a DVD of the game, I'm going to see about getting the footage from the DVD uploaded here for your enjoyment, complete with play-by-play action. It DOES make me look forward to this weekend's road-trip to Laredo for a rematch. Will there be another line brawl?? Can't wait to find out.

This past Saturday, Patricia and I went to San Antonio to see Huey Lewis & The News and Chicago. The concert was at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. It was my first time seeing either group in concert. I was blown away. I have Huey Lewis' "The Heart of Rock and Roll" 1985 concert video and their "Live at 25" concert DVD. I have to tell you....they may be getting up there, but they still can put on a show. Man oh man....Huey came out to such a huge pop from the crowd, it was awesome. He just casually walked out to the stage, said "Good Evening, my name is Huey Lewis", and started playing his harmonica. "The News" came out soon after and started the show with "Build Me Up". Wow, what a way to start the show. After their set, there was a brief break in the action, and then Chicago came on. One of the guys from Chicago sat in with Huey and The News for a few songs earlier in the show. It was only fair that they return the favor. Huey came out and did "Colour My World". Huey and the guys came out and did a song together. Both groups on one stage....it was incredible. It was an awesome show, and I am glad we got to. Sunday, we went up to Canyon Lake to check out the scenery. It's a beautiful setting in the Hill Country near New Braunfels. On the way home, we ate at Rudy's Barbecue. a place that calls itself "The Worst Barbecue in Texas". But, don't let that fool you.....it is awesome! All in all, it was a great, but short weekend. Hopefully, we'll get to go to San Antonio more often, and hopefully for more than a weekend. Current Mood:

Ok ok ok ok....
I KNOW that this is WAY overdue, especially since the last time I posted was BEFORE THE WORLD SERIES.
As you already know, the Houston Astros made it to their first-ever World Series in their 43 year history....and lost in a 4-game sweep to the Chicago White Sox, who were making their first World Series since 1917. Well, a lot has happened since then:
1. I lost a big money bet to my boss on the World Series. It started at a $50 bet on the NLDS, capped by Houston beating Atlanta in 18 innings in Game 4. Then it went to double or nothing with $100 on the NLCS, with Houston beating St. Louis in 6 games. Then, there was the World Series, where it went to double or nothing plus $50. My manager Tom was right, I should have gone Steve Miller Band...."Take the money and run". But, there IS next year. MEMO TO "ROCKET" ROGER CLEMENS: COME BACK!!!!!!!! =)
2. I became the proud owner of a slightly-used Apple iPod. I bought it from my boss, who went out that same day and bought a brand new Video iPod. At first, it was no big deal, but now, I'm jealous....I WANT A VIDEO IPOD!!!! LOL
3. The biggest thing that has happened to me....I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND!!!! =) Yes, it's official....I'm no longer single. Actually, it's been official since December. LOL Her name is Patricia, and we met on MySpace. We had actually been talking online for about two months before we met. There are some things about us that are extremely identical and would probably freak most people out. Most notably is our birthdays....SAME MONTH AND DATE, BUT TWO YEARS APART. And, in case you're wondering....WE ARE NOT RELATED!!!! LOL =) We recently played "Meet the parents", and everything went well, even though I was extremely nervous about meeting her dad. Then again, he didn't go Robert De Niro on me and break out the polygraph. =) Anyway, we recently went on a weekend trip together for Valentine's Day. We had a lot of fun, and got to spend a lot of time together. I hope we get to go on another trip soon.
So, that's the Reader's Digest version of what's been going with me since. Aside from being "Photoshop-Pranked" at work by my boss and co-workers, and hanging out at the Rayz games with Patricia, Jennifer, Cindy and Ed, that's about it. I'll TRY to do better with postings on here. That's all for now. =)

Yes, ladies and gentleman, it's once again time for the Playoffs. And, for the second straight year, the Houston Astros are The National League Wild Card Champions, won on the last day of the regular season face off against the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS. So far, EVERYTHING is pointing to a repeat of the 2004 Playoffs, with one exception: the Astros BEAT the St. Louis Cardinals to win the National League Championship Series and move on to the World Series for the first time in franchise history. Who they face is up for grabs, as you have the New York Yankees, who CHOKED....yes, you heard me, CHOKED against the defending World Champion Boston Red Sox in last year's American League Championship Series. I'm sorry, but if you have a 3 game lead on any team, and you let that team back into the series and they beat you 4 games straight....you get the idea.
So yesterday, as soon as my boss sees me, he starts talking smack saying that "we're only allowed to wear anything EXCEPT Astros gear". But, he seems to have a preference for Atlanta Braves gear. I have been wearing an Astros cap and occasisonally wear an Astros polo-shirt. Hey Oriz, I'm wearing them today....ATLANTA IS GOING DOWN!!!!
I'm not sure if he really is an Atlanta Braves fan, or if he's trying to audition for Vince McMahon and the WWE, but it seems to me like he might be scared. Then again, he should be. A recent article posted on the Atlanta Braves web site says it all:
Braves Hope To Write Different Ending
Now, I'm NOT saying that the Houston Astros are better than the Atlanta Braves. After all, the Braves DID go to the World Series. In fact, they went 5 times. The Astros have NEVER gone to the World Series. They came within one game of going LAST YEAR. But, as I said, that was last year, and this is another year. Last year, the Astros had Carlos Beltran, but they did not have Andy Pettitte. This year, Beltran signed with the New York Mets, and Pettite has made a phenomenal comeback, going from an injury-plagued 2004 season with a 6-4 record and a 3.90 ERA, to a fabulous 2005 season with a 17-9 record with a 2.39 ERA.
While I'm on the subject, I wanna give a quick shout-out to the New York Mets: HEY METS FAN, YOU WON THE CARLOS BELTRAN SWEEPSTAKES AND HOW DID YOU END UP? 4 GAMES ABOVE .500 AND 7 GAMES OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS. YOU SUCK!!!!
In closing, this is for all you Astros fans out there:
GET READY FOR THE WORLD SERIES!!!!

Well, my computer is pretty much back online. Right now, it's running the Noton AntiVirus scan. Once that is done, I'll update and scan with both SpyBot and Ad-Aware. Once I get that done, I can finally get iTunes and my MP3s back in. And, before going any further than that, image my hard drive with Norton Ghost. This way, the next time I go thru this, I just pop-in one disk instead of several. Next up, the backup and reformat of the laptop, but that should be pretty smooth. Current Mood:
Geeze, I'm such a geek!!!!
September 19th, 2005
Every few months or so (sometimes, sooner than that), I like to go in and do a backup and restore on my computer. The great thing about it is that I can burn a lot of stuff to CD-Rs and copy those back in. What would be even better would be if I had a DVD-R drive. Here's a good example. I have MP3s stored on my computer. Big surprise, I mean, who doesn't, right? Anyway, it's nothing real elaborate, mostly 80s music with some 70s thrown in. And, I have some copies of actual CDs that I copied from Robyn (my ex, for those of you who don't know), but have not burned to CD yet....Blues Traveler, Elton John, America, The Rolling Stones. So, yeah, I want to make sure that I have THOSE saved. I went through hell last year in looking for them because my PC crashed. Fortunately for me, I had them saved onto CDs that weren't yet labeled. Seems to me that labeling my CDs would make things easier for me, don't you think? Well, I have started labeling them, and believe me, it does make things easier. I mean, picture this: My computer crashes, and once I have it restored, I'm popping in unlabeled CD after CD, because I remembered that I copied Robyn's "Rolling Stones-Forty Licks" CD a few months before, but don't know what CD it's saved to. Or how about this: you went out and ripped your Aerosmith Greatest Hits CD, and then feel like you want to slap yourself silly because, when searching for "Forty Licks", you found the Aerosmith CD you already burned....and it's saved TO THE SAME CD!!!! So, anyway, getting back on track, I'm on my laptop right now, while I'm backing up my MP3s on my PC. I use iTunes, and it works a hell of a lot easier and faster than trying to do it thru MusicMatch or going thru Windows. Anyway, I have about 7 CDs to backup....4 are my actual MP3s, and the other 3 are popcasts of Leo Laporte shows that I haven't had a chance to listen to yet. For those of you who don't know who Leo Laporte is, he is back on G4TechTV with "Call For Help". He is pretty much "the man" in the world of computers, at least that's my opinion. Once I get those backups finished, I can start with the reformatting and reinstalling of my PC, but that will probably be later tonight after I get home from work. And yes, the rest of my stuff is labeled, so that will make things fly. And once I get that done, I can move on and do the laptop. There are some things that I don't want to reinstall on the laptop, like ALL of Norton SystemWorks. Instead, I may just only install Norton Anti-Virus and maybe Speed Disk. But we'll see about that when I get to it. Anyway, I need food....food, food, I need food bad. Think I'll run over to Pete's and get some chicken, and maybe stop by Shamrock and get some Beef Jerky and a soda. You know, I need to bust out the food dehydrator and make my own beef jerky. Yummy....damn food....serves me right for not really eating anything this morning. Hell, gotta go!!!! Current Mood:

September 13th, 2005
Ok ok ok....so I haven't been on here in about a year and a half. I'm sure there are people here that haven't been on for about the same length of time, some maybe longer, some shorter. Anyhow, nothing real major to report. Robyn moved to Arizona in October to go to school. I made full-time at work in January. Our company was the target of a takeover in March, but that fell through. We're under new management in the sense that Brian & Toby are gone, and our office has moved to a newer, larger location with newer and better equipment. I made the ranks of manager, but have dropped down to an interim status, on an as needed basis. Also, I am getting ready for a career change, going into real estate. And, I have recently signed up with MySpace.com. I'm not dropping my LiveJournal, but have found another journal site. If you want, check it out. It's free, and free is good.
Check me out!
